Rail-Lift: see Tail-Lift Loaders.
Radius Front Corner: an extruded front corner made of the same material as the aluminum wall panels. Radius front corners are more aerodynamic than standard corner panels fabricated out of regular wall panels and offer the benefit of an increased corner radius.
Ramps: Trivan offers of variety of aluminum walkboards and slide ramps that facilitate the process of loading and unloading light to medium freight. Aluminum ramps are lightweight and perfect for walk-in or hand-cart applications.
- Trivan Ramp: Trivan custom-makes aluminum ramps to meet customer needs. Using Trivan’s 6” extruded aluminum panel with a headache rack frame provides a solid walk area that slides smoothly into the recessed carrier mounted below the frame. The use of interlocking snap lock panels means that a ramp can be built to virtually any length (limited only by the length of the vehicle body).
- Emtec Ramp: a high tensile 6061 alloy aluminum slide ramp with an extruded storage latch and grip handles. Additional features include an anti-rattle spring that prevents annoying rattles while moving; a safety stop to prevent accidental or theft loss; and a special anti-slip surface to make loading and unloading safer. Available in a variety of lengths.
Reflectors: supplied standard on all Trivan vehicles to conform to federal lighting equipment location requirements.
Rivets: common name for 3/16” pop blind rivet fasteners used for light metal-to-metal applications in situations where there is access to only one side of the part being assembled (i.e. cannot use huckbolts). Rivets can replace screws, bolts, glue and welding for a fast and sturdy assembly. There are several different types of rivets available, including open-end, watertight and large flange. Heavy duty applications generally entail the use of monobolts.
Roll Up Doors: see Doors.
Roof Bows: extruded aluminum “top-hat” shaped beams that run widthways across the vehicle and support the roof. Roof bows come in two standard sizes (8’ and 8’6” styles) and are made of aluminum to reduce weight and prevent rusting. The roof bows are given a 1” crown for load-bearing and runoff purposes and are spaced at 24” on center for most applications (12” or 16” spacing may be used for walk-on roofs).
Roof Edge:
- Standard: a 4-1/4” extruded aluminum section used to attach the walls of a unit to the roof. The walls are fastened to the roof edge with three huckbolts per panel while the roof skin is fastened with huckbolts and/or butyl roof tape and manusprene caulking.
- Trailer: a 6-1/4” extruded aluminum section used for heavier applications. The larger flange allows for more attachment points (i.e. five huckbolts per wall panel).
Roof Skin: single-sheet 20ga aluminum roof coil. Typically supported by extruded aluminum “top-hat” section roof bows spaced at two foot intervals, roof skin can be installed without any seams on the roof, thereby minimizing the likelihood of leaks developing. Roof skin is fastened to the extruded aluminum roof edge with huck bolts and/or butyl roof tape and manusprene caulking for further protection against leaking.
Rope Ring: see Cargo Control Options.
Rubber Matting: a medium density recycled rubber anti-skid matting, ideal for lining the bottom of tool compartments and drawers.
Rub Rails:
- Standard: a 3” extruded aluminum section mounted flush with the bottom of the wall on non-skirted units.
- Flush: a 2” extruded aluminum section mounted on the wall at the level of the frame perimeter on skirted units.
- Old Style: a 2-3/4” extruded aluminum section mounted flush with the bottom of the wall on non-skirted units; now used primarily for making the perimeter of a kickover floor.
- Reefer: an extruded aluminum section similar to the small (3”) rub rail that is mounted flush to the bottom of the wall; however, the reefer-style rub rail has a 1-1/2” extension on the bottom to allow for extra insulation below the floor of the vehicle body.
Running Boards: Trivan manufactured checkerplate aluminum running boards improve the finished appearance of any cutoff van.
